Sarah E. Smith

Divorce and Family Law Attorney

Sarah Smith

I am a proud seventh-generation Floridian, born in Orlando and raised in Tampa. I spent seven wonderful years in Tallahassee attaining my undergraduate degrees and Juris Doctorate from Florida State University. I was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and received a bachelor’s in political science and humanities.

My time in Tallahassee provided me with the unique opportunity to be involved in Florida’s legislative process. A summer internship at a criminal law office led me to the Florida Capitol where I worked within the Florida House of Representatives. Following this job, I knew law school was the path I wanted to pursue. After graduating Magnum Cum Laude, I began my time at the Florida State College of Law.

Throughout law school, I had a variety of experiences that eventually led me to family law. I had the opportunity to aid refugees seeking asylum and immigrants applying for visas, I clerked at a personal injury firm where I learned the intricacies of litigation, I door-to-door campaigned for a state representative, and I worked for a non-profit whose mission is to preserve Florida’s history through political advocacy. With this wide range of work experience, I learned that I am most fulfilled when acting in the service of others. In school, I had the privilege to take “Florida Family Law” and immediately fell in love with it. After this exposure, I was set on seeking a career in Family Law as it merged my passion for working for others and the law itself. I graduated from the Florida State College of Law with multiple book awards and at the top of my class.

I strive to be a zealous advocate and to provide a positive lifelong impact on every client. I became a divorce lawyer because, ultimately, I just want to help make people’s lives less complex and assist them in their most difficult times. At Bruce Law Firm, we are determined to provide the best quality representation and strive to obtain the best results for our clients at all levels.
