Crystal Weinraub
Divorce and Family Law Attorney
I was born and raised in South Florida, and grew up in Coral Springs practically my entire life. I was highly involved in the Drama Program at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where I served as an officer of the drama club for several years, completed competitions for acting and playwriting, and directed the Children’s Show my senior year. It was also where I met and started dating my husband 12 years ago. We now have a one-year old son, who is the light of our lives. You can often find my family and I exploring new places, especially if those places have dessert. I am also the proud Fur Mom to two dogs and two cats, who we always say own the house and my husband and I just pay the bills. Life is busy these days but I wouldn’t want it any other way!
So how did I get from theatre to law? Well, my mom used to tell me that I really liked to argue as a child so I would make a good lawyer. I never took her seriously about that until I was sitting in my AP Government class and was fascinated by the subject. I also discovered that what I thought I wanted to do, which was forensic science, I had no interest in the anatomy part of it. That was where I made my decision that I was going to be a lawyer after all, and boy does my mom like to tell me she was right all along.
I attended Florida Atlantic University to complete my undergraduate studies with a double major Political Science and Sociology. I knew that to be a great attorney not only knowing the law but how people, culture, and society impact family and societal dynamics would be crucial and that became my focus throughout my studies.
For my legal studies, I attended and graduated 15th in my class from Elon University School of Law in their accelerated program. During my tenure of law school, I served as a Teaching Assistant for the Legal Research & Writing course, worked in the Dean’s Office, and completed a research piece on the impact that education plays on war impacted countries. I also completed a full-time residency at private law firm specializing in criminal defense and family law.
Upon graduating from Elon in 2019, I accepted a position with Legal Aid representing children in the Florida foster care system as they navigated the legal process of being removed from their homes and achieving permanency, which looked different for every child. While this work will always hold a special place in my heart, I now dedicate my career to family law and assisting clients with achieving not only desired legal outcomes but outcomes that leave them personally in a better place than where they started. I strongly believe in practicing trauma-informed advocacy, which places an emphasis on understanding the underlying factors and past events that a client has experienced, to better assist them through the decision-making process. In all my cases, my priority is for my clients not only to understand the legal process but feel good about the decisions they make throughout it to lead them to a better tomorrow.
