Betzy Falgas
Originally born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I relocated to South Florida with my husband and children after graduating law school. In Florida, I found my true passion–practicing law as a family lawyer. I empower, provide guidance and direction, and truly help men and women through a difficult and complex process. Just writing this makes me smile.
I am a true advocate for my clients and enjoy zealously representing both men and women coming out of difficult relationships. Dissolution of marriage matters involving children’s issues such as custody, support, and parental responsibility, as well as modifications of those, have been some of the most memorable and satisfying. I have also enjoyed the more complex arenas of pursuing and defending alimony claims, division of businesses, and complex equitable distribution scenarios.
My true belief is the best path is to mediate and settle a matter, however I do not back down or get intimidated. My trial and courtroom experience gained through handling numerous cases, and with years of experience working in primarily the family law arena, has empowered me to never back down and to allow nobody to bully my clients into a settlement. My priority is providing high quality legal services by assisting our clients with not only legal advice, but more importantly counsel, emotional support, and truly listening, so as to help navigate complex and emotionally driven matters to conclusion.
My early years were spent in Puerto Rico. While there, I earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Puerto Rico (with honors, magna cum laude). While in law school, I assisted those needy families in a family law clinic and interned for a family law attorney in Puerto Rico. It is safe to say that since attending law school I knew my aspiration was to focus my legal career in divorce and family law as I felt and knew it would allow me to help others.
During my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and dog (a sweet black Labrador named Sascha), planning fun activities with our three daughters, watching my favorite TV shows, and taking walks by the beach.
